Mary was first diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer in July 2016. She underwent a lumpectomy and a full month of radiation. Her screenings were free and clear both in January 2017 and again in June 2017.
On Dec 28th, Mary discovered a swelling under her left arm, called her Oncologist and was able to make an appointment to be seen that day. Her Oncologist ordered an Ultrasound and Mammogram STAT. After reading her ultrasound and mammogram results, her doctors’ noticed suspicious tissue and ordered a biopsy. Within a week after the biopsy, Mary received the devastating news that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer in the Axillary Node.
To shrink the tumors, Mary will receive a total of eight (8) chemotherapy treatments, every other Thursday for the next 16 weeks. Her first treatment is scheduled for the 8th of February. Mary’s doctors’ will re-evaluate her status after her fourth treatment. At that time, Mary and her doctors’ will discuss (if required) node surgery, mastectomy, radiation, etc.
To help relieve some of the financial burdens and associated stress on Mary and her husband, we have started this GoFundMe page so they can focus on fighting this cancer, recovering, and getting better. If you know Mary at all, she worries about everyone and everything. We believe that any and all contributions would be greatly appreciated, even the smallest amount.
