Help Mary Hambleton

Dear Family and Friends,

I would like to invite you to help show your love and support to Mary (Accettullo) Hambleton, who is undergoing treatment for Chorodial Melanoma, a rare form of cancer in the eye.

In the fall of last year, Mary was scheduled for a routine eye examination as she noticed a change in vision, particularly in her right eye. An unassuming eye appointment quickly took a serious turn and within weeks, she received the news that she had a cancerous tumor growing behind her eye. The following months of varying medical opinions, researching treatment options, and pursuing a number of alternative medical treatments, have been emotionally draining and expensive to pursue. Ultimately, due to the severity of the cancer, Mary is undergoing surgery to remove her right eye, with guarded optimism it will end the spread of cancer in her body for good.

As you can imagine, the news has been heartbreaking on a multitude of levels. But, true to who she is, Mary has borne this new suffering with grace, love and surrender to God's loving plan for her.

Mary has been a dear friend of mine since childhood, one I yearn to help in any way possible. Many of you know Mary as family, an alumnus of Christendom College, loving wife and a mother of six beautiful children, a home educator and community teacher, a Catechesist at John XXIII Motessori, or simply a caring friend. No matter how you know Mary, I am positive you share my desire to help.

That is why I am asking for your financial aid. Thankfully, the surgery itself will be covered under insurance, but there are mounting costs that will remain and many more that will not be covered, such as prosthetics, ongoing cancer treatment, and disability aids related to blindness that Mary will need to function in this new phase of her life.

The hope is that this campaign will take away some of the financial hardship caused by the cancer, allowing Mary to solely focus on her recovery, while knowing she is surrounded by your love and support.
