My Dear friend Mary Beth Dodd has been hit with news no one ever wants to hear: Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.  

It has been sudden and unexpected news. Her surgery is already scheduled for Tuesday the 19th of February . She will be out 8 weeks minimum along with Chemo following surgery. 

Unfortunately there is no short term disability at her small company and everyday she does not work there is no income, no income means no insurance payments. Her income is 80% of the family,  so you can see this is devastating all around.

She is such a wonderful person who has inspired many in the sewing, quilting and fabric buying areas (maybe a few machines ). If she has inspired you as she does me please consider a donation.

She and Gary know that God is in charge of this journey, but its a tough road that will require many friends and family to be intertwined with Gods help to get her and Gary through the healing process. I don't want them to have the added stress that comes with money worries.

UPDATE: Surgery was Tuesday and she is doing well. Had a rough night last night and didn't get much sleep. I was able to visit for about two minutes and you could tell how tired she was, however in the afternoon she was cruising the hallway!! We are pulling for Friday escape but most likely Saturday to go home. 

I want to thank everyone who has donated through this site or are sending cards. If you feel better sending cards please send to my home Penny Deckard, 1228 West Road, Chesapeake 23323. Not all of us are computer savvy and nervous about putting our information out there. 

The prayers have been the most important of all,  please keep them coming. This is only the beginning of this journey.

Update as of March 4th: She is improving as of yesterday, however had to return to the hospital on Thursday. Unable to keep food or drink down. Still waiting for her colon to wake up. Set back is really bringing in the medical bills. Please continue to share this Go Fund Me, so much more is needed. Thank you everyone who stopped me at the Quilt Show to inquire and send prayers to Mary Beth and Gary, you are all such a blessing. Thank you for every prayer, penny and good vibes. Every ounce is felt in our hearts!


Update as of March 15th: Yay she is home! First off I want to thank everyone for being so generous, it is truly a blessing to Mary Beth and Gary.

She was sent home with a nutrition bag that requires monitoring. Some awesome heroes have volunteered to sit with her when Gary is at work. Her chemo will be starting on the 25 of March (more prayers please) and will run until about the middle of July. She was hoping to squeeze in some work prior to that starting but it looks like that might not happen due to her set back in the Hospital. She is eating very very little at a time and must continue like that till her stomach has learned to accept food again.

So concerning the no work, they have already incurred almost $5000.00 in Copays as of yesterday. Her insurance renews every April 1st, which we know is around the corner, at that time they will have to build up to the same Copays in order for the insurance to pay what the next few months bring. I know its a lot to ask but any amount of money will help. If you don't want to use the GoFund me I understand, we have received a few donations via checks and cash to my home. My address is above. Every dollar adds up and since it looks like she might not be able to work for awhile it is desperately needed. Gary is doing what he can now that the weather is better. Mary Beth and Gary as well as myself are so grateful for the prayers, texts and overwhelming support they have received.
