The Martony's IVF Journey

Donation protected
Grace and I (Annie) are Emily’s sisters and we have walked through this journey with Danny and Emily from the beginning. It has been difficult to sit back and your little sister go through such a difficult  journey and not be able to do much in the process, but pray and be there for her. It's said that it takes a village to raise a child - and maybe that starts even before birth.  Grace and I wanted to start this Go Fund Me to support Danny and Emily during this difficult time and try to alleviate the financial stress it takes to go through IVF. I asked Emily to share a little about her and Danny’s journey in life and parenthood below.

Dan and I met in the Fall of 2011 during our time at Oral Roberts University. Dan had Tommy John Surgery due to a baseball injury and after finding out that I recently had to have surgery to have a benign tumor removed it prompted me to ask why he was in a sling. I played hard to get, but after Dan wore a Cubs hat (He found out I was a Cubs fans) during class I had to see why a California boy was wearing a Cubs hat; soon after we begin dating.

During my visits to Danny’s family in Santa Barbara we would take a hike up to Lizards Mouth that overlooked the ocean and the beautiful city. In the summer of 2013 Danny and I went our routine hike to go see the beautiful views at Lizard Mouth, but this time was different. We got up on a huge rock overlooking the city and Dan got down on one knee and proposed.

Four years after we met we tied the knot in Santa Barbara in the most beautiful ceremony and dancing the night away with our friends and family.

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a mom and after a few years of marriage Dan and I decided it was time to start our quest to parenthood. During our time in California we tried for sometime, but weren't able to get pregnant so we decided to take time off as Dan and I were blessed to be moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma for Dan’s new position with ORU Baseball. Life was coming full circle as we were headed back to the place where it all began for us.

After buying a house, adopting our fur baby Moose and settling into our new life Dan and I decided to start trying again in the fall of 2017. What started as excitement and anticipation quickly turned to doubt and fear as month after month passed and still no baby. We continued to pray, fully believing that God had a plan and a purpose for this journey. As we prayed for wisdom and decrement on what our next step was as we tried EVERYTHING possible to get pregnant.

In June 2018 I went to by OBGYN to get some tests done and discovered during a ultrasound that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). The last 10 months have consisted of ultrasounds, bloodwork, and shots. Per our doctor's recommendations, we tried 3 cycles of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) which only yielded us a 10% chance each round- statistically, if IUI does not work in 3 cycles, it will most likely not work at all. Even knowing we only had a 10% chance, it was hard not to get our hopes up each time.

After the last unsuccessful round of IUI in April 2019, we met with our doctor again who recommended moving forward with  In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in July 2019.

Infertility is emotionally exhausting, physically fatiguing and financially draining. In all transparency I never thought I would be the woman crying in the baby aisle or on the bathroom floor sobbing after looking at another negative pregnancy test.

Only 15 states out of 50 have infertility insurance laws and unfortunately Oklahoma is not one of these states.  Finances are the #1 barrier to treating infertility. Dan and I have budgeted and saved, but with the costs of IVF, travel, anesthesia, and medication totaling $25,000 we hope that you, our friends and family, will help us.

Raising this amount of money seems daunting but we know that with God all things are possible and that when we “take delight in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.” We know that God put this desire in our hearts and we are asking that our friends and family pray for us during this long process and to provide for us where you feel called. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement each of you has provided in our lives! Please help us spread the word by sharing our GoFundMe Page and help us get to our goal of raising $20,000, every dollar helps!
