Martin's Stroke Fund
Donation protected
On February 3rd, very early in the morning, Dad called me needing help stating it was an emergency. He was weak, his speech was slurred and he felt as though he was losing his vision. He was sent to the ER and was later diagnosed with an ischemic stroke. He was then put in the ICU for treatment, but the following day he had suffered another stroke- being a hemorrhagic stroke this time and had new swelling in his brain. From there, he was then transferred to a neuro ICU for treatment and evaluation, but started to decline within a few days. Dad was intubated and had to undergo a ventriculostomy, followed by a suboccipital craniectomy to stop the swelling and fluid in the brain from causing serious, permanent brain damage.
Although he is still in the ICU, Dad has made some great improvements. The wonderful neurologists and neuro surgeons who have worked with him are planning to keep him for a few more days for evaluation before he gets sent off to yet another hospital center for intensive rehabilitation- focusing on physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.
Having spent 2 weeks in Neuro ICU, and now possibly a few more weeks to come in rehab- which both centers are a long way from home- our family will be unable to cover all costs. Donations will go to medical bills, hotel stays for Mom (as she does not like to leave his side), gas to go to and from each destination, small upkeep of his home, and food for his family. Dad and I usually covered costs together, but during this sensitive time ANY help we can get is the best help we can get.

Thanks in advance!
