Martin (Marty) Walker’s Fight Against Cancer

Marty Walker and wife Raylene Lawrence need your help. Proud residents of Colfax Washington, they have devoted themselves to serving the Palouse, and now as their friends have reminded them, this is the perfect time for their community to give back, for you see in January, Marty was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic Melanoma.
Within just a few short months, Marty went from a simple checkup, to five painful and invasive surgeries, to the devastating news that the cancer had progressed at an aggressive and unpredictable rate. Even with the best available conventional treatments like surgical removal of tumors and a chemo-style infusion called Immunotherapy which occurs every two weeks for the next year, which he started in January, the average lifespan for a patient with his diagnosis is just over 12 months. Sadly, the survival rate after four years is just 28% with this gold standard treatment plan. There are however, some promising treatments which are not covered by insurance.
Marty is a 60-year-old native of Houston who moved to Colfax, a town of 2,800 south of Spokane, in 2012, after he and Raylene Lawrence, his high school sweetheart, reconnected in 2010. They have six children and eight grandchildren between them.
Even with medical insurance, the cancer has hit Marty and Raylene very hard. They are seeking your assistance for funds to fight this cancer by every means possible. So much of his care and treatment expenses associated with cancer treatment are simply not covered by insurance.
