On Sunday, December 31st, my parents' manufactured home in Bowling Green, MO caught on fire. Thankfully, it was during the day and my parents were home and awake. They escaped with their lives, their heavy winter coats, and their 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan.

     In the short time it took the Fire Department to arrive, the home was burned beyond repair. My parents were able to salvage some water-soaked, smoke-damaged clothing  from the master bedroom and the deep freeze from the intact back porch, but not much else.

     The insurance company is only paying half of the replacement cost, and nothing for demolition of the burned structure.  My parents are in their 80's and are endlessly kind and generous -  to family, friends and their church. As a result they have nothing in the way of savings.

     We are planning to build a smaller home on slab for them and a contractor has agreed to a price equal to what the insurance company will pay. However, this price doesn't cover demolition of the burned structure, replacement appliances, furniture, or towels, bedding, etc.

Here are the estimated costs for each:
Demolition = $2500
Appliances = $2000
Furniture = $2000

I will post a link soon to a Walmart registry for the household items needed if you would rather contribute that way.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!
