Martin Collins and his family

Donation protected
We are arranging a go fund me to provide some support for Martin and his family following his terminal ilness diagnoses.
Just over 21 years ago, in 2002 Martin joined the ambulance service family as a call handler as part of a training group of 4 others, Gina, Tristan and Gerry, back in the old Hellesdon control room which is now used for training. Unbeknown this would be the start of a number of life changing events for him. He worked as a call handler for one year before moving onto the role of dispatcher and continued in that role until 2008, when he secured the role as a dispatch team leader when the position was first introduced as part of the new structure in what was then known as HEOC. It was also in 2008 was when he met his wife Sarah when she joined the service as a dispatcher. In 2011 they were married and had their daughter Poppy in 2012, which promoted Martins son Bradley to a big brother. At this time Martin started acting up into the role as Duty Manager for Norwich EOC on a number of various secondments over the coming years, albeit never quite successfully securing it full time. In 2016 Martin and Sarah went on to have another daughter Lottie. Martin continued to work hard towards progressing into the duty manager role and was offered the role permanently although only part time hours as a job share back in 2017 and unfortunately had to decline the offer due to family commitments and moving house. But he always continued to work hard and cover the role when needed and would never grumble.
Martin has predominantly worked as a team leader on both Teams 3 and 4, however he has been a regular face across all teams due to the amount of overtime he has always worked to try and give his children all the opportunities he can. He is a family man through and through and his family mean the world to him. He has worked with many people over the years and seen lots of faces come and go and he has made some good lifelong friends in his career both in the control room and numbers of road staff too (some of who are now god parents to his 2 girls). He is fondly thought of and regarded highly for his knowledge amongst his friends and colleagues. And his 3 children are extremely proud of their Daddy wearing Green and being their hero.
