Martha and Jeff's Medical Fund

If you are reading this, you probably know that Martha and Jeff MacDougal are two of the most amazing people you will ever have the honor of knowing. If you know them, you know that they fill your life with love, laughter, wisdom and kindness. If you know them, you know that they make you a better person having known them, and that their compassion, humor, and humility are something you strive to emulate. If you know them, you know that their doors are always open, and they are ALWAYS the first ones to give of themselves, anything they can do, for someone they care about. I have been the continual recipient of the beautiful, profound, and generous gifts of the MacDougals - as I know have so many of you. They have helped so many of us pick up the pieces of broken hearts, broken spirits, and broken homes. By their presence and comfort, we know how they have soothed our souls and made us stronger. They have offered us sanctuary in a Home full of love and warmth, either when we were homeless or had no real home to return to. They have ensured that we celebrate the most momentous moments in our lives while simultaneously bringing us all together, time after time, to create even more. I can’t begin to imagine the person I would be without these profoundly beautiful people and, I imagine, you can’t either.
     Tragically, this past year has been incredibly difficult for Martha, Jeff and their family. Martha has stage four kidney cancer that has metastasized to her brain. One large tumor was removed with surgery but three smaller tumors have grown quickly and she is currently undergoing radiation treatment.  Jeff has had his own difficult health battles: seven heart bypasses in the last two years. The effects of these illnesses and treatments are so complex and profound it is often so hard to know what to do or how to help; the effects are physical, emotional, spiritual, but also financial. In this instance there is a small gesture that you can do to help the ones that are ALWAYS the first one to help others.   Whether you know the MacDougals or not, please consider gifting a small donation to ease the stress of this amazing family’s surmounting, medical expenses. I know of no other more deserving recipients of our, your, generosity and love.  Brecken MacDougal, Jeff and Martha's daughter, is set as the beneficiary of this campaign so that she can manage finances for her parents.
