Nick Marsh is a talented musician, singer and songwriter. He is lead singer with Flesh For Lulu (whose I GO CRAZY featured on the soundtrack to John Hughes' film SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL) and is the lead guitarist in The Urban Voodoo Machine . First and foremost though he is a proud father to two beautiful children and partner to Katharine Blake, also a talented singer and musician, known for her work in Mediaeval Baebes and Miranda Sex Garden.
Last March, the Marsh family received the devastating news that Nick had aggressive throat and mouth cancer. He underwent serious, invasive surgery, followed by months of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Nick is a fighter and we had every reason to believe that Nick had beaten the cancer. Nick seemed back to himself and had begun working again. In February, just a day before his birthday, Nick and Katharine were told that Nick's cancer is back. He faces further invasive surgery and chemotherapy. Nick is unable to earn a living now as he is unable to tour. As a musician, Nick does not get sick pay. Before he got ill, Nick's other source of income was decorating houses. Due to the complexity of his first surgery, Nick's body can no longer handle the physical demands of painting and decorating.
The Marsh family faces a tough time and is at risk of eviction. Nick's recovery would be hindered by living in a bedsit. His daughters are facing more stress than young children should bear. They too need to remain in their family home, close to friends and school. We are raising funds to remove their immediate money worries so they can concentrate on giving Nick the rest and stability that will be so crucial in his fight for survival.
