Dear friends, family, and our wonderful community,Early on Friday, 28th August, our family’s world was turned upside down. A sudden lightning strike hit my mum's house on Marsden Landing, triggering a massive, devastating fire.
At the time, my mum Elaine, her partner Paul, and my brother Robert were all inside the house. While we are blessed beyond words that all three of them managed to escape safely, the damage to the home is catastrophic. While the fire took the roof and first floor, the entire downstairs has been completely ruined by severe smoke, fire, and water damage. Absolutely nothing inside the house is salvageable.
We are also profoundly grateful to the incredible fire services, who bravely managed to rescue one of my mum's cats from the blaze. Her second cat was thankfully located in the back garden hours later, soaked through but alive.
Because the properties are joined, the fire also spread rapidly next door. It has caused severe damage to our neighbours' roof, along with further smoke, water, and structural damage throughout their property that is still being assessed.
Elaine, Paul, and Robert have lost everything they owned in a matter of minutes, and our neighbours are now facing a heartbreaking ordeal of their own. We have set up this fund to help cover immediate emergency needs, clothing, toiletries, vet checks, and temporary accommodation expenses, as well as to support our neighbours with the extensive damage to their roof and home.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a massive difference in helping both households rebuild their lives.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this link with others.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
