Markham Elementary Families Covid - 19 Relief Fund

*Update.  Thank you to everyone who has donate until now.  As a teacher at Markham Elementary, and on behalf of all the other teachers and families, we are very appreciative.  This week we are finalizing our list of families who will be receiving funds.  The funds will then transferred into my account and then be distributed to the families our school has designated to receive funds.  All of the funds that have been donated will be distributed to families in cash or electronic transfer by May 30th, 2020.  Please continue to contribute if you can.  Thank you, again, for your support.

Markham Elementary is a TK-5th grade school located in East Oakland.  Our school, made up of an amazingly diverse community of learners, is also a  a very high needs community.  98% of our families receive free and reduced lunch.  73% of our students are English Language learners,  and we serve a number of undocumented families from a variety of countries.  Even during conventional times, many were struggling to meet their basic needs.  The present Covid-19 crisis has made their situation even more dire.  Our families are now having to manage unemployment or reduced employment, (many without the possibility of any federal aid), threats of eviction, and food scarcity.  Through this fund we want to support our most needy families to help alleviate the impact of our current crisis.  Please, help us support our families.
