For the past 10 years Mark has worked tirelessly at his self owned construction business for 7 days a week nearly every week and put in over 8 hours the majority of those days. He has worked himself to the ground to support not only Cindy his sick disabled wife and Teagan his 11 year old daughter but also Grace his mother and Margaret her sister (his aunt).
His burden is heavy to bear being the only one of 5 people earning any income.
He's been pushing an impossible boulder up a hill for so long. Then in the midst of the second wave of this pandemic he had a catastrophe.
Mark fell off a ladder on a job site on Dec 4th. He suffered severe fractures of his left foot and heel and an even more severe fractures of his left wrist which required surgery that he underwent on Dec 6th. The fractures being on the same side of his body make it impossible to get around autonomously in his early convalescence. Being immobilized like that is enough to demoralize even the best of us.
Mark's only thought is to get back to do the work his body cannot accommodate until it's healed. He's in not only in a very imminent financial crisis but also crushed by a critical state of emotional despair.
Because Mark is self employed he does not qualify for disability. He's been working towards affording workman's comp but job cancellations and customers failing to fully compensate him for his work left funds dreadfully short. He can only collect a small amount of pandemic unemployment which won't cover his financial commitments at all.
The fear of not being able to provide for all of us has put him in a psychological crisis that will impede and harm his much needed healing from his debilitating injuries.
All these years Mark has devoted himself to working tirelessly to take care of his family, friends, and community and now I'm asking if you can find a way to give him the support he's slipping through the cracks without.
