Puerto Rico Maria Repairs Marimar

Donation protected
On September 20, 2017 Hurricane Maria tore through the island of Puerto Rico. So many my friends and family have reached out asking how they can directly help my family. At this point, I have decided to start a fund in preparation to repair the house and make it liveable again. The photo on this page is before Maria. As soon as I have photos of the damage, I will post them as well. This money will be used to purchase a generator, building supplies and tools to reconstruct. The devastation on the island is severe. The population needs assistance and it is not getting there quickly enough. My immediate family (stepmom, brother, sister and nephew) were impacted in that our home is uninhabitable at this time and the business is unable to be run. The roof on the top floor was blown off, the balconies facing the sea were blown off and the front walls caved in a bit. There is water damage in the entire home and mold is growing. Due to the lack of electricity, the water will not make it up into the house which is making it very difficult to get in there with clorox and a pressure washer to fight the mold before it totally takes over. At this point, none of them have jobs or a source of income because everything is closed and there is no information about when that will change. Access to cash is limited, lines for gasoline, ice and water are over 6 hours long and food is being rationed. I am not sure how quickly they will be able to start the repairs because all of the hardware stores are closed and there is no way to access plywood or zinc, power tools etc. My husband plans to go down to assist them rebuild as soon as we are sure he will have access to tools and supplies. All that I can do right now is try to acquire funds to be able to pay for this when the time comes to activate. There are a lot of ways that you can help the people on the island and some of you would prefer helping on a macro level and I completely understand that. For those of you who want to help on a micro level for a specific family please consider donating a minimal amount. Together we can all help them get back on track. Thank you and God Bless You.

Love always,
