Marilyn’s Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
My very close and dear friend, Marilyn Ramirez, was diagnosed late in December 2014 with a cancerous brain tumor. Many of you have been fortunate to meet her and spend time with her here at my house, at one of my parties or seen her on my FB picture posts. What I love about Marilyn is her honesty, wisdom and the positive perspective on everything we talk about. She is my quick-witted funny girlfriend that is always upbeat. She is a dedicated mother to two amazing kids, a loyal police wife for 20 years, beloved daughter, sister, friend and kindergarten teacher.

Marilyn and her family spent this Christmas at the hospital, she was admitted on Christmas Eve. Her first surgery was 3 days later; the surgeon removed approximately 50% of the tumor. With less than a month in recovery Marilyn is scheduled for her next surgery on the 22nd. After her next surgery she will begin aggressive chemo and radiation therapy.

Even though all this has hit her and her family out of nowhere and so quickly, Marilyn has been brave. Her desire to fight is inspiring. Despite how difficult and shocking this has been, she is in good spirits, positive and smiling.

Marilyn has been teaching for approximately 20 years. Here in California not all school districts provide Disability Insurance to their employees, and California Teachers Association (CTA) members aren't eligible for California's state disability insurance plan. She has only sick leave days to cover her pay until she runs out. She will be running out of sick leave in late March and financially things will get incredibly hard on them. Rudy her husband and decorated police sergeant is taking care of her day and night. He is also on a leave of absence.

Anyone who knows Marilyn, Rudy and the Ramirez family know they are the kindest, warmhearted and most generous people around. True friends to so many of us. Always willing to lead a helping hand, Marilyn and Rudy are always the first ones to offer to help. Their generosity and kindness has always spoken for itself. And now we have a chance to do something for them. Let's help them out! Please spread the word and share this story!

We always say, hey what can I do to help? This is how… Please help out as much as you can. Every single dollar makes a difference! We can't cure cancer, but we can make sure that they have enough to cover their bills, medical expenses and deductibles. One less stress for this good family to worry about.

Thank you for your support and God Bless you for helping!
