Please imagine this is Your family. Three generations of Your family living together in a loving environment, in a small Wisconsin community, population 1,500. After years, faces and life stories are familiar to many.
Now imagine the matriarch of Your family, a 66-year-old grandmother, mother, and wife enjoying the December holidays. It was a wonderful family day until... Marilyn had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Within days of returning home, Marilyn had a second heart attack. And on Saturday, January 9th Marilyn had her third heart attack.
Monday morning Marilyn's son and daughter-in-law received a very somber call from Marilyn's doctor. Based on Marilyn's extensive traumas, her body's inability to self-heal, and the brain damage as a result of an unsustainable pulse and lack of oxygen as medical professionals for more than a half-hour feverishly attempted to revive her; they were asked to bear witness to what the medical team felt was best for Marilyn.
With caring doctors, nurses, sons, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter at her bedside, Marilyn's life support was gently removed. Marilyn took her last breath on January 11, 2021, at 4:39 p.m. Her 67th birthday was only weeks away.
I am initiating this immediate fund request to help ease the family's financial burden. An expression of Your generosity in any amount will help her family cover expenses leading up to and surrounding her death. Marilyn requested to be cremated and her ashes returned to her immediate family so they could each have some to place in a piece of jewelry so that she would forever be near their hearts.
Because Marilyn was a giver, the family explored donating her body to science so that medical professionals could learn more and perhaps save even one person's life. It was all set until they were told that there is no guarantee there would be any remains, ashes. This weighed heavily on what is right for humanity and what is true to their hearts. The decision to honor Marilyn's first request of each immediate family member receiving ashes gave the family great peace of mind.
The family will donate all remaining funds to the outstanding, responsive organizations where so many incredible, supportive individuals attempted to save Marilyn's life including the Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Area EMS, Cambridge Police Department, Dane County Sherriff’s Office, and St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.
Thank YOU for allowing me to share this intimate situation with You. I've never done an outreach like this before. Please Follow Your Heart.
