My mom has been a fighter for 2 years and have decided that it will be time to end her pain. As of right now she is on life support. Once we decide as a family to let her go all her pain will go away. It is with a heavy heart that I write her story.
In 2015, my mother was found unconscious on the bed and rushed to St. Joseph's Medical Center. She was later flown to Mercy San Juan hospital because they had a better neurologist. The doctor told her that she had an AVM, which is a condition where there was a blood clot in her brain. And if they were to do a surgery, she might be in a critical condition where she would no longer be able to fend for herself.
Later in 2015, they did the surgery and when she woke up, she had lost her memory. It was not until later that she would regain her past memories and suffer short term memory loss. From 2015 to 2016, she was able to remain independent.
But in 2017, she started to decline. Her body became uncoordinated and unbalanced, leaving her unable to walk on her own or go to the bathroom.
In mid 2017, my mom was admitted to long term care in a carehome because she needed 24/7 care. I visited her every weekend.
But just yesterday I received a call from the care home. They said they were sending her to St. Josephs again. The doctor said that she will not make it and there is a lot of blood already in her head. They said that with so much pressure from the blood pushing on her brain, her heart might stop or she might be braindead.
Writing and sharing her story was very difficult. But right now, I need help to fulfill my mom's final wish. My mom's only wish is to be back home in the Philippines, where she can be buried with her parents. All the funds will be used for medical and funeral expenses. Please, I hope you can help me in this difficult time.
