Home Going for Marie Bimuyang

At the young age of 32, Marie a mother of 2 young girls (Ashley age 10 years, and Eden age 3 years) was diagnosed with breast cancer. Marie a migrant from Cameroon like many immigrants had taken advantage of the opportunity to come to the US 8 years ago in search for a better future for herself and her new family.  She at the time, was recently married to her longtime childhood heartthrob Levi, and not long after, they had welcomed their first child Ashley. However, due to the complexities of the immigration systems, she, her husband and daughter would have to endure 8 years of separation till the system/process worked itself out to re-unite them. In the time they had to wait, on one of her visits to Cameroon, she conceived their second daughter Eden. Also noteworthy was the fact that in the time they had to wait, Ashley remained in Africa with Daddy, while Eden remained with Mummy here in the US.

The long-awaited reunion of Husband and wife, sister and sister eventually happened on April 28,2016. This joy was short lived as soon after, Marie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Their plans to create a better future suddenly had this dark cloud of day to day witnessing the tide of cancer ravage her body. Levi’s primary assignment of integrating into the American society suddenly morphed into one of being the primary care giver for his sick wife.

In the early hours of Monday the 8th Of January, after fighting the good fight of faith for over a year, God finally decided to take her home, leaving her husband alone with the 2 children. Marie, of course, by virtue of the time already spent in the US, was the primary income earner for the family, and now that she is gone, Levi has to refocus on settling down, and taking full responsibility for providing for this young family.

Ashley the older child is left primarily with memories of her mum being sick, being the one who had to stay back in Africa with her dad. While for her, nothing can compensate for the warm loving care and instruction of a mother in a new country, our collective effort to raise $15,000 to help Levi and his daughters Ashley and Eden with the burial expenses, and to cushion the effect of this irreplaceable loss over the next few months will go a long way.

Any support you can give at this time will be enormously appreciated by Levi, Ashley and Eden and all of us who love her.

She is my sister and dear friend. The funds will go towards Marie’s funeral which is on Jan 20, 2018 at Rinaldi funeral home in Silver Spring, MD (4-6pm.  I will pay the funeral cost and give the remaining balance to Levi and the girls.
