Anyone who has known Marie, knows that she is not 59 years old, but is 59 years young at heart. Her warm smile, helpful heart, plentiful stories and sense of humor have given comfort to many family, friends and strangers over the years.
Marie has had many medical complications throughout the years. She is a breast cancer survivor, but has been diagnosed with NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis), also known as fatty liver, for many years. Unfortunately, this disease has progressed even further to something called end-stage cirrhosis. Since March, Marie has been in/out and admitted to the hospital 8 times for lengthening periods each time. Her condition is worsening and as the liver begins to lose its function, other bodily organs are harmfully impacted. She has had a series of “bad” episodes which will become more severe and frequent. Thus funds collected for this campaign will help with the cost of numerous trips to the hospital, ambulance bills, medical equipment, varieties of medication, etc.
Initially this Go Fund Me account was created for family members from away who wanted to help out. However, we are now leaving it open for anyone at all who would like to help Marie during this difficult time.
