MARIE REINE DE LA PAIX - MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA

We, the Mauritian Diaspora of Melbourne-Australia, are fundraising to help build a part replica of one of the most famous shrines in Mauritius, the Marie Reine de la Paix.

"Marie Reine de la Paix" means Mary Our Queen of Peace. As such, we would like to bring everyone together to help build this monument. This will be located at the

Ta Pinu Shrine in Merrimu, Australia.

As an insight, back in 2012 a group of Mauritian came up with the idea to include our beloved Marie Reine De La Paix amongst the many Virgin Mary around the world at the Ta Pinu Shrine Merrimu. In 2014, Father Dun and with the blessing of the Maltese Community, we were granted a plot of land to build a shrine for the Mauritian Community. From there, our mission began.

With the help of a kind-hearted Mauritian resident, we gathered information and photos of the original 1940s statue from Marie Reine De la Paix Mauritius. In the meantime, people generously donated $11,000 to purchase the statue.

Marie Reine de la Paix was hand carved by artisans from Vietnam. It is a 2.4 meter statue made of Carrara marble.

Our beautiful lady reached Ta Pinu in December 2021, after which the Mauritian community was honoured with a special ceremony for blessing the allocated land where the shrine will sit once built.

From this point, the architect and engineer volunteered to work on the design and structure of the shrine.

The aim was to replicate the original place of worship as much as possible. However, we had to respect the regulations set by the owners of the land. Thus in early August 2022, Father approved the final drawings.

We, Mauritians of multi-faith, appeal to your humble generosity so that Our lady Marie Reine de la Paix can stand proud for us all to worship.

We look forward to raising $30,000 to help the Marie Reine de la Paix Mauritian Community of Melbourne achieve this significant place of worship for all nations.
