I am seeking funds to cover expenses during my recovery from a hip replacement scheduled for October 31, 2017.
This is my second hip replacement and third major surgery in under three years,
I have no supplemental insurance and will not qualify for short term disability. (One year ago I had surgery and needed recovery time of four to six weeks. The total disability insurance I received for three weeks was $56, and due to a paperwork issue with disability and my employer, disability demanded their $56 returned. I had to return to work within three weeks and it was a challenge). With this upcoming hip replacement, I know I will not be able to return to work for at least two months due to the physical demands of a commercial kitchen. When I do return, it will be in a diminished capacity for a short duration, further impacting my earnings.
This hip replacement is imperative. I urge anyone thinking about a hip replacement and suffering instead, to get it done. It is the ticket to freedom. Since my first hip replacement I hiked the Camino de Santiago in 2015, and the Grand Canyon this past spring. I am looking forward to walking the Camino Portuguese (Lisbon to Santiago) or The Way of St. Frances (from Assisi to Rome) this coming spring to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I would also like to be able to effectively ride again without the limitations of excruciating pain.
I greatly appreciate any contribution to this quickly approaching procedure and so look forward to being on the other side of this chapter.
