Marianne's Dental Calamity

Donation protected
UPDATE 8/1/2021 Well, after a very unsuccessful trip to Mexico with major complications from implants, a major surgery back in the States, two more different dentists tried for a bridge and the third dentist was finally successful.  I was able to get the material testing and a temporary bridge with your help and donations. If this all holds I can proceed with a permanent bridge in several months time. Final cost for that is $5,400.  August 9th would be 1 year since the nightmare started but I think I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

My name is Marianne Hymanson, but you can call me Calamity Marianne. I am a victim of dental negligence, not once, but twice.

At current there are no regulating agencies or overseers of dental incompetence in Arizona.

In August 2020 I placed my complete trust and my teeth in the hands of who I thought were reputable prosthodontist’s. To have a simple tooth extraction and a bridge made for the missing teeth.  But the incompetence, negligence, and unethical practices of these two doctors has devastated me emotionally, physically and financially.

I initially sold my SUV to pay for the dental work to the first prosthodontist, then had to take out a new loan to pay for the second,  resulting in a deficit of over
$18, 000 dollars. I no longer qualify for any more loans and my concern is staying afloat while taking care of my ailing, aging elderly Mother who lives with me.

The first prosthodontist was unsuccessful removing a tooth after 8 injections leaving the tooth half in/half out of my mouth, and I had a reaction to the anesthetic, given oxygen, and had to have an emergency procedure with a nearby surgeon to have sedation and extraction. That resulted in a severe sinus cavity infection and much recovery. Postponement  of bridge till recovery. The Dentist then tried to use a tooth for one of the crowns to hold the bridge on that he shouldn’t have tried to use. Resulting in an ill fitting temporary bridge with more pain and complications.
I discharged him but he kept all $8,500 dollars I had to pay IN CASH up front.

The second prosthodontist guaranteed even though the first dentist messed up, that things could be salvaged and another bridge made using the same teeth.  I was concerned about further allergic reactions and asked for materials be placed in my mouth made only of what I currently had and knew caused no reactions. Another temporary bridge was made and it still didn’t fit, but again the professional assured me the permanent would fit and be of materials I requested.

The prosthodontist permanently cemented the new permanent bridge on telling me to get used to it, rather than cement in with temporary cement to assure there would be no issues. Several days passed and I had an anaylactic reaction and ended up in urgent care. I discovered  the prosthodontist lied about the materials that were placed in my mouth. .

Now I am on medication to control the reactions which have severe side effects, the pain from the bad fit of the bridge and AGAIN this dentist refused to resolve the issue AND KEPT $10,000!!!  I had to pay out of pocket with no dental insurance.

I can not stay on these medications for much longer as they are to strong to be used long term. It’s unfathomable they can get away with this!

The immediate goal is to pay to have the bridge removed,  which costs $500. It is not a simple process and requires 60 minutes of work and drilling an controlling the dust from the allergy to the current material.
But I also can’t just go without anything as my remaining teeth are filed down to sharp pointy daggers and would be destroyed long term  if not covered appropriately.  Not to mention cut my tongue and lips. And impossible situation to be in.

A new biologic dentist has agreed to take on the case with blood work testing to all dental materials FIRST and a different approach to get me functional teeth again.  The blood work testing kit costs $325.00 not including the blood draw from the laboratory.  The next step will be to get new impressions made and  mock up to work with.

The new dentist has quoted “How in g-ds name did anyone cement that atrocity into your mouth I want to know and feel like its going to be ok?  How are you supposed to function on that ?The temporary looks better than the final product honestly. I am so so so very sorry that you have had to go through with this trauma and if I can help you I would be glad to in any way that I can. Dr. Katie

I am humbly asking for donations, no matter how small, towards my dental fund of $8,000 dollars.

Donations can be monetary, or legal referrals to ligittgators in medical/dental (no upfront pay), & all prayers are greatly appreciated.  Donations are accepted through gofundme, paypal at [email redacted] and I'm going to try and set-up direct pay at a dental office for your security.
