Margot EscarGOT THIS

Margot Escargot is a singing, dancing, joyful, creative, classy & sassy 14-year-old girl. Last summer, before going into her freshman year of high school, Margot started experiencing lower back pain and discomfort. Over the next few months, after several false diagnoses, her pain became unbearable. One trip to the ER later, her high school experience has been turned upside down with a life-changing diagnosis.

An MRI revealed that Margot has a tumor at the base of her spinal column. The biopsy confirmed it was Ewing’s Sarcoma, a childhood type of bone cancer. While the diagnosis was not what anyone was hoping for, Margot is thankful that doctors finally found what has been causing her pain and grateful that the tumor is localized, not metastasized.

Now Margot, her family, and the amazing oncology surgical team at Baptist Hospital have a plan to FIGHT this cancer with everything they’ve got.

Margot just began her initial 12-week battle with chemo. We hope and pray that the tumor shrinks. Then, her amazing doctors will attempt a risky surgery at the base of her spine to remove it. She will follow-up with another 22 weeks of chemo and radiation.

Over the last few life-altering weeks, Margot has displayed unrivaled courage and strength! She still has her sparkle—that amazing light that shines for the world! She has a faith-filled and loving support system and we have no doubt that, with God’s grace, she will overcome this battle!

As any parent knows, Monica and Luis’ focus now is their daughter’s well-being and her incredible journey. But this journey presents new burdens aside from the healing process—like maintaining jobs and unanticipated medical expenses. There will be good and bad days, and the last thing they need to worry about are the added struggles of everyday life, because Margot is fighting for hers.

The Palma family is truly humbled by the support they have received from family, friends and even strangers. They ask that you please pray for Margot’s healing.  At the end of the day, we know that God is in control and ESCARGOT THIS!

We ask for any assistance to ease the burden on the Palma family as they face the biggest fight ever! Any excess funds the family does not need during this process will be donated to charity.
