Marc's Fight Against Cancer

Facing reality…
On June 16, 2017, 61-year-old Marc Molvar went in for his yearly physical exam, just as he had done for the past 20+ years with the same Primary Care physician. When the doctor conducted the typical manual exam on his prostate, he said that the right side felt a bit hard. The physician ordered a PSA test as part of Marc’s blood workup—the first time he had ever done so.

We were shocked when the test results revealed a PSA score of 256.7—the normal range for his age is 4.2. The doctor told Marc “it was nothing to worry about,” but wanted him to see an Urologist right away. In little more than one month after a biopsy, bone scan, and CT scan were conducted, we were faced with the horrifying news that Marc had Stage IV Prostate Cancer and that it had metastasized throughout his bones. Our lives were turned completely upside down.

The Urologist/Oncologist informed us that because of Marc’s particular biopsy result, there was no appropriate option for surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. The only treatment offered was a Lupron injection to stop the hormones from spreading the cancer. We consulted two other Oncologists and the same recommendation was given.

Marc had his first Lupron injection on July 27th, followed by an Xgerva injection on August 3rd to strengthen the bones. We were very encouraged when on September 5th Marc received a voice mail from the oncology nurse that his PSA had gone down from 256.7 to 13! This really lifted our spirits.  Another PSA blood was drawn on Nov. 2 and the results came back the next day with a 4.63 as the new marker for the tumor. We are even more encouraged that everything that Marc is doing is working for the good, on his behalf.

Up until this point, the tests and injection treatments were covered by our healthcare provider because each medical action had an associated medical code, which is used by insurers to determine coverage amounts.

Nutrition and Integrative Medicine working together…

In the meantime, we sought out solid nutrition counsel and changed Marc’s diet drastically. We learned that sugar actually multiplies and spreads cancer, so we eliminated that from his diet immediately. We now shop at Whole Foods exclusively, and in addition to removing the bad sugars, Marc is gluten and dairy free, and eats only organic meats and vegetables, supplemented with alkaline water and Juice Plus vitamins.

Despite no available traditional medical treatments, we have firmly believed that God would put us on the right path toward Marc’s healing. This led to much research on alternative forms of treatment for prostate cancer patients. Thankfully, we found an Integrative Oncologist that offers these types of treatments with remarkable success at the Cancer Center for Healing in Irvine, CA.

On Oct. 17, 2017, Marc began a three-week IV-based cancer treatment. The IV consists of Mistletoe to build up his immune system and Salicinium, a non-toxic anti-cancer agent, to remove the enzymatic “cloak” on the outer area of the cancer cells. This IV “cocktail” will help Marc’s immune system fight the growth of the cancer cells and also help stop the spread of the malignancy. Together, the IV treatments, bloodwork and physician appointments have already cost more than $15,000. The Integrative Oncologist also prescribes additional natural supplements to support the cancer fighting process. So far these supplements have cost $1,500.
In about a month or so, Marc will begin a new treatment course called Supportive Oligonucleotide Technique (SOT). This treatment has the ability to induce apoptosis
(cell death) in the circulating cancer tumors (CTC’s) and circulating stem cells (CSC’s), as well as ALL primary and metastatic tumors regardless of size, while enabling the cells to cross the blood brain barrier with ease. The cost for this treatment is approximately $15,000 for one year. At this point, we are not clear on how many treatments Marc will need.

Unfortunately, on October 30th we were told that Marc’s primary healthcare provider will not cover any of the IV or future treatments because there is currently no standardized medical code for these cutting edge treatments.

And this is why we need your help…
Marc is an amazing husband who treats his wife like a queen. He is also a loving dad to three adult daughters and enjoys helping his sons-in-laws with projects around their homes. As a playful Papa to six grandchildren (with another one on the way), Marc loves making memories with family and friends by taking amazing pictures and creating beautiful photo albums. His favorite sport is basketball and he still plays two days each week with a group of men that he has been playing ball with for 20+ years. They all meet at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Friday’s at a local gym.

We sincerely appreciate your prayerful consideration in joining us in the fight against this diagnosis. With ongoing prayer and the integrative treatments, we truly believe that Marc’s body will begin to heal itself. With that being said, we are very grateful for the skill and wisdom of doctors and believe that God uses doctors to heal.

When Marc is healed and no longer needs medical care, all remaining Go Fund Me funds will be placed in a scholarship to enable other patients to receive cutting edge integrative oncology care.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support for the Integrative portion of Marc’s journey to complete healing!

God Bless You All,
