In may 2016, Marci was involved in a terrible motor vehicle accident, resulting spinal cord injury that left her in a wheelchair and requiring maximum help from caregivers. For the past four years she has been living in a hospital bed in her parents home, to which she is so grateful and thankful, but Marci has proudly progressed in her independence and is now ready to live independently again!
After a long wait, Marci was finally able to be placed on section 8 housing and has FINALLY found a house that is willing to work with her disability and housing situation. Her first place since the accident!
However, adaptive equipment is unfortunately both necessary and expensive and In order to be successful living on her own. some adjustments are required as she does not have full functional use In her hands and is mostly wheelchair bound. Some things she needs include a ramp for in and out of the garage/porch, kitchen equipment (items with handles, front knob stove, etc), front loading washer and dryer, bars for throughout the home (especially the bathroom), furniture she can transfer in and out of, etc.
