Marathon for Emer Casey Foundation in Youghal

Hey everyone,
My name is Sebastian Helka and I am going to run a Marathon in Youghal for the Emer Casey Foundation.
I am an amateur sprint and olympic distance triathlete who has decided this year to follow the dream of running a marathon. I’ve made this decision to remain consistent in my training as well as to raise much needed funds for the Emer Casey Foundation.
This wonderful foundation was established in 2006, in memory of Emer Casey. It is supporting the DISCOVARY research consortium which is directly engaged in addressing the pathogenesis of the most silent and deadliest of all cancers affecting women - ovarian and uterine cancer. The foundation’s three main goals are to raise funds for research on ovarian cancer, to help improve patients’ care and to raise the awareness of this deadly disease.
Now, as I am planning to toe the start line of my first marathon ever, I still hold on dearly to one memory. The 2010 Youghal Emer Casey 10K, my first running race. Every year since, besides training and competing in triathlons, I had the pleasure of running that lovely 10K around Youghal town, among many fabulous runners.
I will do my virtual race against the clock on Sunday the 6th of September (the date of the canceled Cork City Marathon which was my initial plan). I will run a loop around the precious town of Youghal 11 times, starting and finishing my race in Green Park, just outside of Walter Raleigh hotel. The plan is to begin at 6:45am, with a goal of breaking 3 hours on a marathon distance of 42,2km.
To “break 3” I will need to keep 4:14mins/ 306W pace. If you’re planning your training session for that day, come along and help me to keep my pace!
I hope together we can raise the money for the Emer Casey Foundation.
