Marathon for the Mind and Tarkine

Hey guys,
This year and well, the past few years in my life, have thrown up many tough challenges. Im not ashamed to say I’ve struggled with my mental health at times. So I’ve decided to throw myself into another challenge and raise some much needed funds in the process.
Us men are known for bottling things up and not talking through our problems and feelings. It’s time to open up especially to our mates as they might be suffering in silent as well. Here’s a very sad statistic which I feel conveys the enormity of the problem we face here in Australia.
"Blokes make up an average six out of every eight suicides every single day in Australia. The number of men who die by suicide in Australia every year is nearly double the national road toll.” - Beyond Blue
The problem is even more prounouced within our indigenous communities.
I’ve decided to dust off my running shoes which have lay sedentary for way too long. I’m going to run the Melbourne Marathon in October, hoping to raise some money for two worthy causes .
Those close to me know well that Tasmania holds a special place in my heart after spending time down there. I spent most of my free time roaming through its untouched pristine forrests, lakes and waters which heal and nurture one’s soul. Unfortunately there are dark plans to cut down some of the old growth forrest down, in the interest of greed. The Tarkine is at risk and the BobBrown foundation is standing fast trying to stop us losing one of the few untouched places we have left in Australia and the world.
I will be spilting any money raised down the middle to go to beyond blue and the Bob Brown foundation.
