“Every Marthomite is a missionary” are the famous words of the late Dr. Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan. He spoke of the need for all Marthomites, not just clergy, to engage in regular evangelism and encouraged the lay people to seek opportunities to serve those in need. Thanks to his leadership, the Mar Thoma Church has a longstanding and unique mission-oriented heritage.
For the past (3) years, various missionaries have spent a week over the summer serving local brothers and sisters in Christ through MTC Urban Missions. In 2015, we partnered with SF City Impact, and served the local community in the downtown SF area. In 2016, we partnered with Mission Year and were able to serve the community of Downtown Chicago. In 2017 we partner with Mission Year Houston!
In 2018, due to such a high demand to serve, we will be expanding our reach to both Philadelphia ( March 24th-28th) and Chicago (July 22nd-26th) !
This is where we need your help. As we are receiving grants from the Diocese, a little more fundraising needs to be completed. Where will your donations go? Assistance in car rentals for all of the attendees, gas for (5) days, dinner for (2-3) nights for (20) volunteers, volunteers shirts, 2018's Trip etc. We ask that if interested, you donate, as your heart desires.
