Meet Mia and Jakks! Mia is an adorable 14 year old princess. She is blind, non ambulatory, non verbal and has been through so much in her young life. She suffered from seizures that were unresponsive from medications and had to have the whole left hemisphere of her brain removed to stop them. We are happy to say she has been mostly seizure free. She also has a shunt for hydrocephalis and has had corrective scoliosis surgery. Although she cant speak her recpetive language is quite good. She is the cutest thing I have ever known and everyone that knows her will say the same thing.
Jakks is 11 years old. He is our handsome little fire cracker. He is on the spectrum with ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety and oppositional defiant disorder. Jakks has been home schooled, has had a month long hospitalization in the psychiatric unit for destructive and aggressive behaviors. We have finally got him on track and proudly I can say he is doing phenominally well in school and at home. He is so handsome and has the the funniest personality. He has us laughing all day long with the things that come out of his mouth.
I am Stephanie, a very proud, single mother of these angels. Watching these kids grow and overcome their obstacles has changed me forever. I appreciate every small moment in life and take nothing for granted. These two are the greatest gift that god has given me.
To say that everyday life is a struggle is an understatement both emotionally and financially. I have tried to stay home to take care of their needs but nearly lost everything. I am here today on go fund me to ask for help in getting an accesible van. I have a van that is 12 years old and it broke with Mia on the lift, trying to get her to the doctor on Saturday. It is beyond repair. I went to look at a replacement and it is $42,000 for a used accessible mini van. If I am able to raise the full $50,000, I would like to modify the bathroom so that Mia can take a bath for the first time in 2 years. Since I split up with her father and moved in to a rental, it has been nothing but sponge baths. PLEASE HELP US!!!!!
