Mandala Mother's Rehabilitation
Donation protected
On the morning of Friday July 7th, as I’m sure most of you know, Sally, the Mandala Mother, suffered a massive stroke. Since then she’s been recovering in the Stroke Unit at Abingdon Community Hospital.
The first six weeks and the first three months following a stroke are critical in terms of recovery. Unfortunately Abingdon is grossly understaffed and as a result Sally has been receiving on average just 45 minutes of physio three times a week.
Longchen is fortunate to have, amongst its Sangha, stroke Doctor Mark Massyn. He visited Abingdon last week and said ‘Sally deserves better than this’.
Because of this Rigdzin Shikpo has made the decision that Sally will go to the private hospital St John and Elizabeth in St John’s Wood where she will receive upwards of four hours of physiotherapy seven days a week. This will maximise her chances of recovery and of being able to walk again. The cost of these three weeks will be upwards of £25,000. All contributions gratefully received.
Many thanks for your support of the Mandala, of the Mandala Mother and of our Guru Rigdzin Shikpo.
