Hi my name is Diana and I currently work in the medical field. I am normally not one to ask for help, but at this time I need your support. I have a patient that is 44 years old and he was recently diagnosed with colon cancer back in June. At that time, we hoped that he would go through chemotherapy and be cured. But reality is different. The cancer has spread; now effecting his bone and his lung. He is on his second cycle of chemotherapy, and at this point we think chemotherapy has reached its end point.
To you, this may seem like any other Joe, someone else who was diagnosed with cancer. But let me tell you about this man. He came from Guatemala in 2016 by putting a lien on his land and his father’s, so he could come to this country and bring food to the table for his 6 children; ages 3 to 17. Without the ability to work in the past 6 months, the bank is threatening to take away their land. Leaving his family homeless and without a father.
He currently owes the bank eighteen thousand dollars, and while I understand this is a large sum, I am going to try my best to reach this goal, so he will have one less thing to worry about in the few months he has left with us. My hope is also to help him get back home, so he can at least be able to spend his last few moments surrounded by his loved ones.
