Mamba's Surgery

Donation protected

Anyone who has had the joy of meeting Mamba knows that she is a sweet, affectionate, playful and majestic animal, with an equally caring and genuine human (Jay) who loves her like she is his best friend, as that’s truly what she is!

Naturally, we were horrified (as most pet owners would be) to find that she has recently been having trouble urinating, visually confirming a substantial amount of blood in her urine shortly after. Since that day in mid-December that we noticed it, we have been putting a lot of resources and care in to finding the cause and treating her - different medications, food adjustments, vet trips, urine analysis, etc.
Today's veterinary trip however, was different. We decided to get an x-ray taken,  revealing that Mamba has a “quite-large” bladder stone, that will need to be surgically removed.

Without the surgery, she could face a full blockage of her bladder, leading to more infections and further health complications, on top of significant amounts of pain.

With the removal surgery, they will make two incisions to fully access the bladder and remove the built up mineral deposit (the ‘stone’).
The mineral deposit will be sent off and be lab-tested to find out what type of mineral is causing the build up, which will allow us to put her on the right diet to ensure that we can continue to enjoy her loving, playful company for years to come.

Between post-secondary education, career changes and unexpected financial/personal stresses, we are struggling to imagine covering this large and unanticipated expense.
Any amount that you’re willing to contribute to the surgery and vet bills would be so graciously appreciated!

****If we do indeed reach our goal, (fingers, toes, eyes all crossed) we have chosen to donate all of the remaining Email / Go Fund Me raised donations to the RAPS Cat sanctuary, based out of Richmond B.C. doing AMAZING work. The Sanctuary provides a safe, forever home to hundreds of feral, abandoned and surrendered cats, most of whom are unlikely to find a family home. The Sanctuary is at the heart of RAPS’ no-kill promise. Under our care, no animal is ever euthanized due to lack of space, treatable illness, physical defect, age, behavioral or socialization issues.
