Help Kristi Fight Stage IV Melanoma

My mom, Kristen Sims, has been a wonderful mentor, role model, cheerleader and inspiration to many. In addition to being a single mother of three, she has been a constant support of my brother, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, a chronic mental illness.
Kristy is a respected, loved, and adored elementary school teacher, who is dedicated to inspiring hope, igniting the imagination, and instilling a love for learning within each and every student.
My mom has recently been diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma.
Metastatic melanoma is described as melanoma cells having spread through the lymph nodes to distant sites in the body and/or to the body's organs. The liver, lungs, bones, and brain are most often affected by these metastases. So far, the cancer has been found in her ribs, spine, neck, and tissue. Further testing is being conducted to identify any other possible sites of cancer metastases. The general life expectancy is approximately 2-8 months, with a 5 year survival rate of about 15% with proper response to treatment.
Our Solution
We are currently exploring other treatment options at the moment.
Initially, my mom was part of a trial study at Cedar Sinai in Santa Monica. Unfortunately, her body had rejected the treatment, and began attacking itself. She experienced liver failure, nearly went into cardiac arrest in May 2018 due to colitis, and is currently fighting off pancreatitis. They have recently dropped her from this study, making our search for alternative treatments begin again.
