Making Kay’s dreams come true

Donation protected

My 32-year-old cousin Kay has very recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Below is her story in her own words, and although it says it all, we feel like she deserves some good times to help in the biggest fight of her life. We want her to be able to focus on the immediate, inconceivable battle without any financial stress.

Kay is kind and funny, she is the type of person that would do anything for anybody. Battling cancer is a hard enough concept to accept but during a pandemic, it is so much harder as she faces some of her most vulnerable moments alone. Her stepdaughter Pixie and her partner Vikki make her everyday bearable and filled with love, so we want her to have as many beautiful memories with them as possible!

We refuse to call this her ‘bucket list’ as we know she will fight this with all that she has, however there are things she can’t do whilst unable to work. It’d mean the world to be able to send her on some amazing journeys and precious experiences with her family so she can live life to the fullest!

Coming from a close and loving family we feel helpless right now, so we’re asking for support, no matter how big or small, from anyone who can. Please help us to help Kay see a future beyond her current gloom, and let her know that we are behind her her fight.

Kay, we will fight this with you! You are loved beyond comprehension!

How my journey of kicking cancers butt began.

❤️ please share It might just help someone ❤️

Here is my journey through the diagnosis of cancer and the reason why I am Sharing it. I wrote this as I thought one day I will share it when it’s all over and I have kicked cancers arse but I feel I need to share now after watching the news.

I’m sat here having my chemo watching the news about the amount of people Not going to the doctors and getting check because of the pandemic we are in!! and the amount of people ignoring the signs and not getting checked is so scary! Please don’t be scared to go to the GP or to the hospital! It has saved my life !! I’m in and out of hospital I have no immune system and I haven’t caught covid-19 !! Be safe but get checked!!

"A cancer diagnosis changes you forever. You always remember the moment it came"

I woke up one morning with a strange feeling in my neck. A feeling like I was been strangled, I left it for two days then I noticed swelling on the right hand side of my neck. So I called 111 and arranged an appointment at the drop in centre. I was seen by a nurse, I explained my symptoms and said the only way I can describe it to you is that I am been strangled. She laughed! And told me to go see my doctor! The next day I went to see my GP who told me i had pulled a muscle in my neck. Two days passed and by then I felt worse, I couldn’t stand anything touching my neck. I sat on the bed and cried to my partner. She took me to A&E where I spent 12 hours having xrays, blood tests, cameras up my nose, specialists coming to see me and finally a CT scan.
The ENT consultant came in the room and said the scan is abnormal “I think it’s your artery leaking in your neck”. I was shocked but she said surgery would fix this, and off she went. 5 mins later she returned apologising she was wrong and out of her mouth came the words I never thought I would hear “you have cancer”. I will Never forget the feeling it’s indescribable, I looked at my partner and the tears just ran down our faces.
What does this mean? Am I going to die? Is it treatable? The question couldn’t be answered I was discharged and told to wait for a letter within two weeks to see a consultant.
This is when my life changed!
I was seen by a Heomotology consultant. Who arranged a biopsy of this mass they had found in my chest. I had a biopsy through the centre or my neck down into my chest, this didn’t work, I was sent for CT guided biopsy through the front of my chest, this didn’t work. I then had a PET scan and another CT scan. I was then admitted to the freeman’s hospital they deflated my lungs and went through them to get a biopsy, I woke up with drains and tubes coming out of my back and ribs, and to top things off I had to do everything alone due to covid-19.
finally they had got what they wanted and I had a diagnosis.
I have a 20cm by 10cm Hodgkin’s lymphoma mass in my chest and going up my neck.
All this had happened in a month! I was
Mentally and physically drained and dreading what I had to come.
I had a PICC line put in my arm ready for the chemotherapy to start where I got a blood clot, this had to Be removed and another put in. The nurse looked at me and said I think you are the unluckiest person I have ever met nothing is going right!

I am now undergoing chemotherapy awaiting for a scan to see if it’s working to kick this cancers arse !!! I won’t give in! I will Win this fight !

I’m also sharing my story to make people aware it can happen to any of us. I’m 32 fit as a fiddle never had any health problems and now look at me I can’t even walk up the stairs with out stopping to catch my breath! Please get checked follow your gut feeling!!
Feel free to share ❤️❤️
