I’m an ordinary, hard-working guy with big plans and ambitions. I come from a small town in Devon. There is nothing extraordinary about me... aside from from my ambitions, my skills and my creative grasp of film and the moving-image in general. I want to bring my work to life and help others tell their stories through film. I wasn’t well-off growing up, my family are unemployed and I don’t particularly have anyone to rely on apart from myself and of course I am not alone in that fact. Below I am going to detail who I am, why I need funding and how helping me will also help others achieve in the future.

I was lucky enough to go to university where I sought out internships with various production companies in the north and the south of England - I was buzzing with creative progression and ideas. I brought my passion to various internships, where I was given the opportunity to learn about the ways in which production companies operate, from pre through to post-production. One thing that caught my attention about each of these independent companies, is that they were incredibly profit driven, a drive of any business of course.
As a creative individual with an intense drive to succeed in the film world, I want to navigate my creative journey through a production company that will act as a vehicle, not only for myself, but for other creative individuals who will be given an opportunity to collaborate with other writers and filmmakers.
‘THE COMPANY WILL FOCUS ON DEMOCRATISING OPPORTUNITY AND ARTISTIC EXPRESSION...’
Of course, profit-driven goals through commercial film work will still be a major aspect of this small companies existence - the financial security that commercial work provides will enable me to initiate creative projects that will also act as vehicles for the local artistic community, budding filmmakers/writers/actors who may not have access to the resources needed to bring their ideas to life, or whatever skill they may have to contribute professionally.
Long story short, post university life brought hardships that I chose to run from by travelling. A series of unfortunate events meant that vital equipment was lost, from here I decided to return to the UK, where luck has not been on my side. Over the last few months I have been developing the idea for a production company that aims to democratise creativity and give people a chance, people who may not have an established reputation in creative havens such as London. This production company will exist outside of London’s monopoly on creativity.
Full Circle Productions will be based in the North of England and will be about offering something more than a commercial video for a local business. The company will focus on democratising professional opportunity, artistic expression as well as those commercial projects, in a world where it is becoming more competitive for creative individuals to succeed or find that initial starting-route to success.
‘SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND’
The company will be split into two separate divisions - one dedicated to narrative film/documentary and the other to commercial video-production. The ‘Creative’ division will give those who may not have an established reputation in the industry a chance. This division will look for stories and talent in unlikely places. In the film industry, short-film production is largely viewed as a stepping stone to feature-film production. Short-films are initially submitted to film festivals, where producers ‘scout’ emerging talent, using short-films as a way to identify said emerging talent.
Having an open-minded approach to giving a ‘chance’ to the local artistic community acts not only as a distinguishing element to this brand, it also increases the companies chances of having creative productions funded. Film is about freedom of expression, perspective and capturing the zeitgeist of contemporary society - embracing new ideas and new perspectives.
As well as BREXIT's emotional impact on how the youth view London (and the UK), the capital is widely vilified for being far too expensive and over-populated, thus discouraging young, talented graduates and artists from moving to the capital. This growing attitude towards London combined with the economical and societal factors that BREXIT has acted as a catalyst for, appears to be diversifying attitudes towards location in the U.K.. I aim to establish Full Circle Productions in the north, at a time when signs of attitudes towards locational diversity are manifesting more fully.
I have a distictive visual style, an intense passion for film and for creativity and the power of storytelling. I want to tell my stories and I want to tell other people’s stories. I want to prove that London is not the be all and end of for those wishing to strive for their dreams.
I need to raise £5000, a small amount in the long run whilst setting up this production house. It will pay for technology that will aid me in the creation of branding, visual work and in order for the production house to operate.
