ABOUT SAVE

Safeguard Atone Validate Educate (SAVE)’s major objectives is to drastically reduce, and close the revolving door of incarceration. SAVE has been successful in pulling together some of the most unconventional partnerships in America. Our partners (law enforcement, colleges, businesses, libraries, and food pantries) serve as SAVE’s resource network. SAVE has been very successful in partnering with some of the most dedicated and experienced social justice activists and government agencies and leaders, those who believe in the VILLAGE concept, as the most effective way to build the social capital needed to successfully actualize racial equity programs for people of color. ABOUT THE SAVE PROGRAM

Making Children Job Ready Instead of Jail Ready is a racial equity violence intervention and prevention initiative  for two impoverished and marginalized communities of color in Mecklenburg County..

Specifically, we are looking to improve economic mobility in 2 key East and West Charlotte communities:

TIMBER RIDGE APARTMENTS and THOMASBORO respectively. Both areas are ridden with crime, drugs, violence and human trafficking.

For example: Thomasboro has a poor livability score of 54. [Ranked #149 neighborhood in Charlotte - i.e. Crime (F) Employment (F) and Schools (F)]) Empower Timber Ridge and Thomasboro children, teens, and parents - primarily people of color who aspire to be stakeholders, planners, and decision-makers in the systems that govern their lives through economic mobility..

ABOUT OUR DIRECTOR

It would be Jena Poston's dream to be able to provide free education that will give these communities of color  the support and skills that will create a great foundation into providing social solutions. Jena is graduating from University of North Carolina at Charlotte with her marketing degree as well as a minor in communications this December.

As a first generation graduate, Jena understands the privilege of furthering one’s education. She really want to give a chance to at risk children and youth, as well as an opportunity that will help transform them into entrepreneurs. We will provide free transportation, school supplies, food and anything else these girls may need. This program will make a difference in the Mecklenburg community because it will give lower income families the support and exposure into a field that otherwise would not be easily accessible. We are asking for your help to make a difference in our youth and our community in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
