Making a Difference in China

Dear Friends and Family,
I would like to share about an exciting opportunity I’ve been given this summer to participate in a life-changing cultural experience!
I have been invited to attend a basketball cultural experience. There is a strong leadership development element to this whole trip combining competitive basketball with cultural experiences and working with local Chinese schools.
The trip is only weeks away- July 30th - August 8th visiting Guangzhou, Chengdu and Luzhou, China. As a group, we will teach basketball clinics to local Chinese youth, play games against local teams and experience Chinese culture.
I will be traveling with a group of 7 students chaperoned and supervised by Coach Scott Cornelius, Founder of Team12 Sports. He has led numerous international trips in the past and after visiting China two times overseeing international students program, he wants to make possible these life-changing experiences for others.
Coach Cornelius partners with an agency out of China that plans all of the logistics on the China side of the trip (travel details, interpretation, tour guide, setting the schedule with the schools).
Our group will play 3-4 games against local Chinese teams. More importantly, in addition to playing competitive basketball I will be working with local Chinese students presenting basketball clinics for junior high age students working with two different schools on the trip.
In addition to both playing and teaching basketball, I will have the opportunity to experience the Chinese culture through art, calligraphy, kung fu and Chinese cooking classes. I will have opportunities to share what America life is like to different Chinese classes.
As you can probably tell, it’s going to be a full trip of listening to, learning from, and living with others in China. What a great opportunity for personal growth!
I can’t do it alone. I am seeking financial supporters who will help me. I need to raise financial support in only a few weeks.
The cost of the trip is $3500. I intend to contribute as much as I can personally earn, AND I’m seeking 30-50 people who can give $50-$100 each, however any gift is greatly appreciated. I would truly appreciate it if you would be one of those people?
