The Solar Lamp Walk

Sarah Mulwa is co-founder of Now For Them Trust, a community trust set up to support rural families and communities in Botswana through initiatives aimed at improving their quality of education, health and access to clean sources of energy.
Since 2003, an annual 100 kms walk has taken place across the famous Makgadikgadi Pans, in northern Botswana, to raise funds and awareness for worthy initiatives, including those benefitting vulnerable children, women, and the environment.
This year one of the walkers will be Sarah Mulwa, who holds a Master of Science Degree in Sustainable Energy Development, was a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow, and is a Board member of the Botswana-U.S. Alumni Association.
Between 8th and 11th September 2017, Sarah will be participating in the Walk, to raise funds to acquire and donate solar lamps to rural students living in female-headed households, whose homes are not connected to grid power, to afford them an opportunity to continue their academic studies after sunset each day.
It has been established that students’ school grades have improved significantly, from having access to solar lighting after sunset each day. Additional benefits include cost-savings from reduced paraffin and candle usage, enhanced home safety and security, and a healthier environment for all family members.

Please help Sarah reach her goal of being able to donate at least 1000 solar lamps (@USD20 per lamp), by sponsoring her on her epic walk across the Makgadikgadi Pans.
