Makelle Emergency Expenses

I am writing this with the permission of my daughter. On November 26, 2017, after returning from a visit home for Thanksgiving, my sweet 24 year old daughter was held against her will, physically assaulted and raped by her boyfriend. This is the same person who we welcomed into our home for the holiday. Two days later he showed up at her place of employment and it took 4 employees to remove him from the building. He was arrested, charged on multiple offenses, and a criminal and civil proctective order have both been approved. He was in jail for 2 weeks but was recently released after paying the $25,000 bail. She is temporarily staying in a secure location but is terrified to stay in Utah County. We are discovering a long history of violent behavior towards women and threats have been made. Her life has been turned upside down. She has given notice at work, withdrawn from her spring classes at UVU, vacated her apartment and is moving home with us to feel safe. I started this account for those reasons. Utah law is pretty vague when it comes to the rights of victims to vacate or terminate an apartment lease. Her landlord has been unwilling to work with her. In order for her to get out of the lease early, she needs to provide December rent AND 45 days rent after. If she cannot do this, they are in the process of evicting her. This will destroy her chances to rent again when she gets back on her feet. She is responsible for the full amount even though they were both on the lease which is $3000. I can’t even begin to understand any of this. She has limited funds while she is looking for a new job. We are able to help some but not all, especially before the holidays. I am asking for help as her mom, who would do anything to take this away. She has a long road ahead full of counseling, court dates, moving, switching jobs and schools and adjusting to her new surroundings. My hope is by relieving some of the financial burden, she can focus on healing and moving forward. I get it. It feels like there is a gofundme account for everything. I am just doing everything in my power to help my daughter. That is what Mama Bears do!!! Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you!!
