Amelia-Rose's SDR Surgery
Donation protected
Back in November 2015 we first noticed our Amelia - Rose had issues standing up unaided. After appointment after appointment we were finally told that she had a cerebral palsy mimic. This is very rare as despite not having actual CP her body thinks it does which causes stiffness in her legs.
She has to use a K frame to get around as she cannot stand up by herself unaided as she will simply just fall over. Today (12th July) we have been referred for a surgical procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomoy or SDR for short. We have been told that it will not totally cure the stiffness in her legs but should reduce the amount of stiffness which we hope will give her an easier life for now and for whatever future she chooses to have.
As you can understand we simply want whats best for her and we believe this operation will help massively. We have been told the NHS does not fund this operation so we need to raise funds. Its not a matter of life or death as we can imagine this operation will be at some point in 2018. Therefore we want to get the ball rolling now as you can see the target is slightly higher than what we imagined as the money will go towards the operation and the rehab after.
We really appreciate any donations you can make and all of the money will go to help to make Amelia walk!
