Make our second album a reality

Donation protected
Hello country lovers, it’s yer ol’ buddy Lawrence Peters!

Me and my boys are itchin’ to finish our long awaited second Lawrence Peters Outfit album, and we need your help to make it happen.
The record is tentatively titled I Wrote You A Song, and I’ve temporarily dismantled my Midwestern humble-izer to say that I did indeed write every one of those prime honky-tonkers, and I’m very proud of my work.
Of the eleven tracks lined up for the album we have three keeper takes from previous recording sessions. We did a demo session in March, with my ol’ Kansas friend Rob Strickland, to tighten the arrangements for the eight remaining songs, and everything feels real good.
We want to get back in the studio before the end of the year to get crackin’ on this.

How your hard earned dollars will help win the day:
I’m expecting that it’ll take a few studio sessions to find the sweet spot on the remaining songs, and I’m coordinating with JamDek for a couple of calendar dates to get us started.
After all of the base tracks are set we’ll book additional time to overdub vocals, and hire some heavy hitters for harmonies, pedal steel, fiddle… whatever each song requires.
We’ll mix the completed cuts, and have the mighty Carl Saff master the record.
Next comes artwork, printing the jacket, and finally, plating and pressing the vinyl and CDs for your listening, dancing, and drinking pleasure.
There aren’t a lot of income streams for musicians, even for a popular and busy band like ours, so if we make our goal we’ll use the additional funds for such luxuries as promotion (videos, possible PR campaign), and touring (van rental, gas, motels).

What you’ll get:
GoFundMe isn’t a rewards based platform, so there’s no place to build this in, but anyone who contributes $30 or more gets the vinyl LP. $25 or more gets you the CD.
That’s higher than we’ll be selling the records, but this will build in a buffer for postage, and give us some padding for the cost of everything else.
Your contribution and support will also score a victory for independent music by making a long awaited album a reality.
I can tell you that us small fries could use some victories right now. It’s rough out there.

How we got here:
A lot has happened since the release of our debut album, What You Been Missin’, twelve years ago. I’ve watched and helped Chicago’s country and roots family grow and evolve into a nationally and internationally respected scene, with a sound and character of its own.
I’ve also seen all kinds of folks, near and far, discover this music that I love so much, and make it their own.
And all the while I’ve been growing as a songwriter and singer.

Songwriting can be a lonely and vulnerable endeavor, and I’ve worked like a dog to let down my guard when the muse comes a-callin’.
My efforts have yielded a fine set of songs that span the breadth of the human experience: Love, loss, drinking, regret, trucks, nightlife, family, home, loneliness, more drinking, Jeeps, and more, all of ‘em in the ideal form of shuffles, waltzes, and stompers.
Here are some fiery live versions of five of the tracks, from our set at the Smashed Plastic Grand Opening Party:

Thank you for your support on this project. It is very much appreciated.
Please spread the word to your friends, family, and other fans of music, country or other.

Thanks!
