Maisie's Family Fund

Hi, my name is Kim and I am trying to raise funds to help a family who I initially met as clients of ours at Grange Vets, Norton. I first met this family just over a year ago through difficult circumstances with one of their pets, a dog called Marley, who the family ultimately lost as he was having uncontrolled seizures.

Maisie has suffered from seizures for three years now, which have increased in frequency to up to 30 per day! She has been diagnosed with cysts in her brain which have stopped her living the life that a normal 10 year old should be living: she has had to stop the things she loved and can only attend school for an hour every other day, simply because the stimulation can trigger more seizures.

Maisie's surgery has been rescheduled twice now, but has a new date of 23rd March at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. The hope is that this will cure the seizures and allow her to lead a normal life again. However, her parents have just heard that it will not be possible for both of them to stay with Maisie following the surgery. Her mum will stay with her, but they need to find the funds for accommodation for her dad for at least a week following her operation. Needless to say, the whole family, is feeling the pressure for this.

I am desperate to help raise some money to help this family. Initially to help so that both of her parents can be close to hand immediately after her surgery and for each other, but also so that the whole family can make up some lost time and have resources for ongoing care and perhaps even some really quality time together as a family when she is recovered.

EDIT 3rd March 2023: we are leaving the page open another couple of weeks despite us reaching our target of £1800 (we are blown away by this!).
