Mairon's Medieval Marathon

On Friday 22nd July I am going to walk a Marathon along the coast of Gotland, Sweden to raise money. Why?

Medeltidsveckan (Medieval Week) is the biggest event of its kind in Sweden, and for the first time, it is welcoming the creativity of the cosplay hobby into its schedule.

My name is Mairon, and I'm responsible for bringing the cosplay events to life. Medeltidsveckan is a non-profit business, so all funds raised go straight into running its events, which means that the budget for this new cosplay venture is very tight since there are so many people and areas to cover.

I want to make the most of this opportunity. Although I have already managed to invite international guests, set up a workshop and talks, and organise two cosplay competitions, a few wrinkles need funds to iron out.

I am ordering pronoun and flag pins from a small LGBTQI+ run business in Germany for €160 so that attendees know how to address our team and which languages they speak. This is my first goal.

I also need to hire a vehicle to run our volunteers to and from the event (I have already provided accommodation for most) so any further funds will contribute to this and petrol.

Any funds beyond that will go straight into running the event, perhaps for competition prizes (I wanted goodie bags for any kids that enter), food for our cosplay guests, materials for the workshop etc.
