Maho Pearl's Medical Needs

Many years ago I “met” a fellow missionary in Japan through an online bulletin board for Christian women facing infertility. Over the years this woman has become a dear friend, fellow adoptive mom, prayer warrior, encourager, and SISTER. This sweet family is so dear to us! Meet Carl, Elizabeth, Sam, Maho, and Danny O’Brien.

Maho has had a year of very serious respiratory illnesses: she was hospitalized in the early summer with RSV, then since September, she’s had covid, human meta pneumo virus, and now pneumonia. She’s currently hospitalized again, this time her daddy is taking off work to stay with her. Because of her heart conditions, any respiratory issues directly impact her heart. The family has been cautioned that she could go into heart failure and require surgery.

God has been so faithful to sweet Maho over and over again in her life. Carl and Elizabeth are raising Maho and Sam to testify to God’s love and power in their lives. Now is another opportunity to be salt and light in Japan, as they walk through the medical journey of Maho needing extra care.

God blessed Carl and Elizabeth with a 3rd child just this year and as a result they went from a dual income family, to a single income family. Now with Maho’s serious hospitalization and recovery, it is necessary for Carl to take time off work to help care for the children as one parent stays in the hospital at all times with Maho.
