Magnet Cove High School Band

The Magnet Cove High School Marching Band has been invited to participate in the 2019 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia in December.  We would be competing in a band competition in the Mercedes Benz Stadium, marching in the Peach Bowl Parade and performing in a pre-game, all-band performance.

While this is a great honor and a huge opportunity for the band, this will be an expensive undertaking.  Current cost estimates are upwards of $80,000, which includes competition and activity fees, 2 charter buses and hotel room and meals for 4 days and 3 nights.  Time is of the essence as the first installment payment to the Peach Bowl Committee is due June 1st, with the second payment due September 1st.  The third and final payment will be due November 1st.

Based on what we think we can raise, we have asked each band member to pay $300 toward their total cost of $800 for the trip.  Considering the poverty rate among our high school students is 43.29% and 67.03% of them are economically disadvantaged, this will be very hard for them to manage.  We are hoping to be able to raise enough money to cover the entire cost of the trip so that money will not prevent a band member from going on this trip of a lifetime. 

A large majority of the band members play a school issued instrument and most of those are approaching 20+ years old.  In the event we are unable to raise enough money to go on the trip, or we raise over and above the amount needed, all of the money raised, or the excess, will go into the band program to purchase much needed new instruments.
