Maggie's Breast Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Hi there everyone!

My name is Nicole daughter to the most amazingly free, strong, and wildly brave mother.

At the beginning of this past July my mom, Maggie, went to her yearly mammogram appointment the doctor said the words that every woman hopes to never hear, "There seems to be a little something wrong in your breast. We need to see if it's cancer."

That "little something" did end up being stage 1B breast cancer in one of her breasts and the cancer had begun to spread to her lymph nodes. We were all still so grateful that it was found so soon and it was still so small. She spent all of July into August preparing for her lumpectomy surgery on August 3rd.

Sadly on the evening of July 31st my dad had a heart attack and spent the upcoming days in critical condition in the ICU. Yup. Now August 3rd, 2018 will always be known to us as the day of my mom's cancer surgery, my dad's 61st birthday, and the last full day my dad spent alive.

The next day, August 4th, my dad died due to swelling and fluid in his brain. The cause probably being because of the amount of time it took for my dad to be revived after having his heart attack. We were just grateful he got the best care and the doctors did everything they could.

Now, three weeks after my dad's death, we are all obviously still processing and mourning, but there is an immense amount of worry that hangs over our shoulders...especially my mom's.

My parents have been divorced since I was 4 years old. I am currently about to go into my junior year of college. This will be the first semester my mom has to take on all of the expenses that comes with having a college student on her own. While my parents have been divorced for the majority of my life, they split everything financially when it came to me (school tuition, sports uniforms, plane flights for my university, school fees, and everything along those lines). Not only now does she have my college expenses and fees to now have to figure out as a newly single mom, she begins her chemo treatment in a few days.

Obviously, due to the severe effects of chemo treatment she will not be able to work as much as she normally does (which is everyday + overtime).
On top of the expenses that come with having a college student and having to now scramble to crunch numbers to pay for day to day bills, my mom also has insane medical bills that have only just begun.

We are so grateful that my dad's death was with not much pain and as peaceful as it could be. And of course, that my mom has a curable form of breast cancer, which is more than a lot of women that are dealing with or have dealt with.

My mom has been saying throughout this whole journey, "If millions of women before me have conquered this and much much worse...I can too."

While these are a truth for us, we are also extremely worried for the upcoming months with the extreme tightness of money and lack there of for our upcoming expenses. While my mom and my dad split everything, we are still a middle class family that has tons of school loans and debts that many other middle class families have.

I am simply asking for some help lifting this weight that has slammed down on my mom's shoulders in just a matter of weeks.

The goal of this GoFundMe is very high, but I wasn't sure where to put it because the expenses seem endless at the moment.

Please donate as much or as little as you can! ANYTHING would be so greatly APPRECIATED! Anything from $1 to $20 to $50, would be such a blessing.
