Mae's Bone Marrow Transplant Fund
Our beautiful friend Mae Chaffers has recently been diagnosed with two life threatening disorders, the first being PNH (paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria), an extremely rare blood disorder and the second being aplastic anemia, a bone marrow failure disorder.
A born caregiver, she was in her fourth (and final) semester of nursing when she became unwell; extreme fatigue and bruising bringing her to the emergency department.
The past four months have been difficult both physically and emotionally for Mae, who has bravely undergone countless tests, bone marrow biopsies and other medical procedures as well as biweekly blood transfusions to keep her alive.
The only treatment for Mae is a bone marrow transplant, this will be her miracle. In preparation for the transplant she will need to undergo chemotherapy and radiation. In the best case scenario, the recovery from a successful bone marrow transplant is 6-12 months.
We, Mae's friends, are appealing for help, so that she can meet her financial obligations, and focus on her recovery, any support would be greatly appreciated and we thank you all in advance.
