Faith House - Mae Sot Refugee Camp

We (Ashley and Anna) have the humbling opportunity to travel to Mae Sot, Thailand in April to provide aide to this wonderful organization, Faith House. During our time there we will be providing medical care, training, and support to the staff and girls. We will be paying for all our own expenses. The donations we are requesting here, will go directly towards sustainment of the organization, medical supplies,other school supplies, and daily necessities.
Faith House is a shelter for girls at risk; at risk of being trafficked or sold into prostitution and slave labor.
The 62 years civil war in Myanmar is the longest running in history. To this day armed conflict with various tribal groups (foremost he Karen tribe) erupt, die down a little then erupts again. Due to this the country is in poverty, persecution and oppression is everyday life. People
wanting to escape war and porverty seek refuge to the nearest border towns. In this case in, Northwestern border town of Thailand called Maesot. Thousand of migrant people come into Maesot everyday seeking work and better living conditions. There are millions of migrant workers in Thailand coming from Myanmar. They are prey to human traffickers, slave labor,
exploitation, sexual labor harassment and poverty as well. Children are the most vulnerable. People often easily disappear in this border due to human trafficking. Children are subject to exploitation and trafficking of pedophiles. This is how Faith House evolved. Initially they only wanted to put up a literacy program to migrant children but due to the situation and the need for shelter and protection of the children at risk Faith House was born. The girls are migrant children who are abandoned, neglected or too poor have the capacity to go to school. Some children have parents but are still in Myanmar. All are at risk.
