Madelyn Hallett's Medical Expenses
Don protégé
Hello,
My name is Ross Hallett, father to Madelyn Hallett. As much as I had not wished to do this, and am quite frankly too proud and stubborn, I am starting this fundraiser because my family and I have reached a point where we are no longer able to go on without asking for some assistance.
As many people who follow along with our "Madelyn's Progress" Facebook page may already know, Madelyn has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, which she has been battling since two years old. Since her diagnosis, we have had a couple of different medicinal treatments, which she receives via infusion every month. Back in 2021, Madelyn's disease was so severe that the GI and surgical team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital determined our best care option was to perform an ileostomy. As such, on November 24th, 2021, Madelyn had her ileostomy surgery. Since then, we have experienced many ups and downs, including multiple trips back to the hospital for repeat surgeries and stays.
Over the last year and this, Madelyn's recovery has been going very well. Her monthly infusions have been extended to every six weeks and she does excellent with them every time. However, a few months ago, Madelyn's body began giving us signs that it was time to reconnect and remove the ileostomy. On August 7th, 2023, Madelyn underwent surgery to have the ileostomy taken down and everything reconnected. Since then, her recovery has been rough, but she seemed to be making progress for the better.
Unfortunately, this progress didn't last. Currently, Madelyn is fighting off a UTI and she is not eating or drinking much. As I write this, Madelyn is at ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital, where they are planning to transfer her down to Cincinnati Children's Hospital so they can more closely monitor her.
I thank you for taking the time to read through my summary of our journey, and if you are willing and able to donate anything you can, it would mean the world to me and my family.
