Let's Help Mackenzie

On 9/24/15 at 10:05 am Zachary and Hillary were given one the greatest gifts ever, a baby girl!
Her name is Mackenzie Rose and was born weighing 1 pound 12.9 ounces. She was born at 25 weeks 6 days, over14 weeks early.
She was immediately admitted to the NICU at Tacoma General.
Hillary held her baby for the first time on 10/7/15, and Zach was able to hold her on 10/8/15.
Mackenzie has undergone surgery to repair a hole near her stomach, has had a heart murmur that has healed itself, and has made major progress that continues to amaze the doctors and nurses. At one point they were basically told that if they wanted to take her off life support it was an option!!!
At 2 months Mackenzie was 3 pounds 9.5 ounces. There were many days that she wasn't able to be held because of the machines that were keeping her breathing. Her Mommy and Daddy have been strong advocates for her care, and have been very greatful to the NICU staff for taking care of our little preemie.
At 67 days old Mackenzie was no longer intubated. She was able to cry and be heard, and suck on her pacifier. 
At 3 months, on 12/24/15, she continued to be strong! Her parents were told so many times she wouldn't be, but somehow...she was here! Someone so small has been such an inspiration, and she is a tiny little fighter!
We celebrate her every day!
The doctors are talking about a trach to send her home. We aren't sure what is in the future for our little miracle, but we do know she will be coming home at some point, and her parents will need help. Anything that our friends and family can do would be greatly appreciated!
Some spirits have such great work to do, they just defy incredible odds to get it done....
